The author of this book prof.Dmitry Avdeev - Moscow psychiatrist, psychotherapist, clinical psychologist, PhD, professor, member of the Writers' Union of Russia. Since 1991 prof.Avdeev has worked towards the formation of the Christian attitude to mental diseases, the development of the model of orthodox psychotherapy. He delivers lectures in Russia and abroad, speaks at parishes, Sunday schools, advises in monastic hospitals, he is constantly engaged in the medical reception. Over the years of work he has consulted more than 37 000 people.
Prof.Dmitry Avdeev is the author and co-author more than 50 books and pamphlets published in the Russian, Romanian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, English, Spanish and German languages. The general circulation of published books has exceeded 1.5 million copies.
The book «Sin and suffering. Selected lectures on the basics of Orthodox psychotherapy» presents five lectures, namely: «Psychotherapy», «Neuroses», «Main forms of neuroses», «Causes of mental diseases» and «Depression».
